POV
What is happening to us?
by Chowhound
The evolution of the Tuesday Night Poker Game has done a complete 360. The
origins of the game stem from the need for a cheap enjoyable Tuesday activity
where buddies can drink, kibitz and, forget the day's problems. Once again with
the bear riding Wall Street, digital TV in malaise and, air wave frequencies the
last thing on American's minds Tuesday poker prevails. In the last fifteen
years that the game has been in existence there are few things you can count on
as much as poker.....mother, dog, Mimi's slices etc...
This leads me into another subject , the lack of enthusiasm on Tuesdays. We
come to play we play to win and there is always time for one more hand, unless
stymied by an irate wife or death in the family.
The general misuse of our friendships also make this writer uncomfortable. In
some silly way we all have a pact with each other with has made us all the best
of friends, maybe its the clan of the Tuesday Night Poker Game syndrome? If you
want to lambaste another player, fine, there is no rule against it live by the
sword die by the sword ,people who live in glass houses should not throw stones
etc... just be courteous each other. Treat your fellow player
with some respect and dignity as though they where a stranger. Familiarity
should not allow an attacker to get low and nasty, we all have feelings.
Thank you all for this platform and G-D speed to all
What's happening
to Chowhound?
by Koneo Kenny,
The TNP website, at times, can make us players appear pretty one dimensional.
Most of the articles focus on which player was misdealing, who's losing or
winning, and endless recaps of petty arguments. The fact is, many of us have
fascinating interests outside of poker.
Chowhound, for example, spends the lions share of his free time as the President
of the NY chapter of the Boy George Fan Club.
"From the moment after seeing my first George music video, back in
1983, I was hooked. "Do you really want to hurt me", helped to heal
some of the hurt of discovering the ambiguous nature of my sexuality during that
period in my life. Boy George helped me start the journey to discover who
I really was, and for that I'm eternally grateful. Playing poker with you boys
is, of course, sweet and fun. But it doesn't fulfill me like my work with the
Boy George Fan Club. Soorry!
That's OK Chowhound. Second place is still good enough for us. And your
long-standing, as a regular in our game, serves as living testimony to the fact
that TNP Poker is an all inclusive event.
